A early George I elegant baluster Sugar Caster, London, 1715 by Jacob Margas; with intricately pierced lid and great form to the baluster shaped body. Engraved with coat of arms for Alexander Seton Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton (c1660-1726).  Traditionally a Roman Catholic family, Eglinton became one of the first firmly Presbyterian nobles and was Colonel of Horse during the English Civil War supporting the Engliah parliamentarians against King Charles II. Measuring 7.25" (18.5cm) tall.
