The decoration on this milk jug is inspired by the paintings of David Teniers II (1610-1690) best known for his peasant scenes. The silversmith Edward Farrell (d.1850) was known for the same highly embossed work and JR Harris (who became par of CS Harris) was at this time located at 24 Bridges Street, the premises of Edward Farrell.
The jug measures 3.7" (9.5cm) to rim and 7.2" (18.5cm) from lip to back of handle.
